Pack-Sack People
Dedicated to Arnold & Laura Merz my second family
Second edition.
Arnold is an 83 yr old German immigrant living in Canada, I used to live with him for a half a year. In that time we drank lots of wine together and he told me all his stories about serving in two wars, getting drunk and falling asleep in snowbanks, and how to cut bread like the Europeans. To him my friends are all leading me astray, off stealing bicycles, or dancing around the radio eating bologna sandwiches. He created the term pack-sack person, though all of us have seemed to adopt it.
The Pack-sack People book is a collection of images and stories about us. Though it’s also about traveling, being happy, and finding home.
